Wild Dog Polo Triumphed at the USPA Women’s Arena Handicap

The USPA Women’s Arena Handicap final, hosted at the Legends Polo Club in Kaufman, Texas, saw Wild Dog Polo claim a dominant 16-9 victory over Legends Polo Club. Building on their recent success in the USPA Women’s Arena Open, Wild Dog Polo’s team, with Verity English, Stephanie Colburn, and Tiamo Hudspeth, managed to win over the other finalists; Megan Rahlfs, Cara Kennedy, and Wendy Stover, and secure their second consecutive national title of 2024.

Wild Dog Polo’s strong teamplay was evident from the start. Colburn and Hudspeth combined their momentum with English’s dynamic debut. For Legends Polo Club, Rahlfs led the charge with eight goals, including three penalties and a two-pointer in the first half. However, Wild Dog Polo’s relentless scoring and defensive coordination proved decisive, particularly during the second half when Colburn and Hudspeth’s partnership added five goals, solidifying the lead.

The match began with explosive offense from both teams, with Legends Polo Club taking a 5-4 edge after the first chukker. Wild Dog Polo quickly regained control in the second, limiting their opponents to a single goal while building an 8-6 halftime lead. Despite a valiant effort from Kennedy and the Legends team, Wild Dog Polo surged ahead in the third and fourth periods, capped by English’s final goal.

Megan Rahlfs earned Most Valuable Player. Bobbi Anderson of Grand Central Polo Club received the Sportsmanship Award, while Best Playing Pony was awarded to Tiamo Hudspeth’s Varro.  The USPA Women’s Arena Handicap is now available On-Demand.
